James H. Marsh
James H. Marsh was born in Toronto in 1943. He studied at Waterloo Lutheran (Wilfrid Laurier) University, York University and Carlton University. He was an editor with Holt, Rinehart & Winston and then with Collier Macmillan, editing and writing books on Canadian history. In 1970 he joined McClelland & Stewart as executive editor of the Carlton Library Series published by the Institute of Canadian Studies at Carlton University. In 1979, Marsh became editor-in-chief for The Canadian Encyclopedia. He remained in that position through changes in ownership and eventual transfer to Historica Canada for which he is now editor emeritus.
