Jon Cornish

Jonathan Michael Cornish, football player, financier, university administrator (born 5 November 1984 in New Westminster, BC). One of the best running backs in Canadian Football League (CFL) history, Jon Cornish played nine seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2007–15). A three-time CFL All-Star (2012, 2013, 2014), Cornish won the CFL Most Outstanding Player award (2013), the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian award (2012, 2013, 2014) and the Northern Star Award as Canada’s top athlete (2013). He won two Grey Cups with the Stampeders (2008 and 2014) and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2019. He currently works in finance and was named chancellor of the University of Calgary in 2022.

Jonathan Christian David, soccer player (born 14 January 2000 in Brooklyn, New York). Jonathan David is a centre-forward who currently plays for Juventus in Italy’s Serie A. In 2021, he helped lead France’s Lille to a Ligue 1 title. David holds the Canadian record for the most international goals scored in men’s soccer with 39. He was named the Canada Soccer Player of the Year in 2019, 2024 and 2025 as well as the CONCACAF Men’s Player of the Year in 2025. He began his career in the early 1980s and has composed music for over 100 productions, working extensively with such directors as Sturla Gunnarsson and Sarah Polley. Goldsmith has won four Gemini Awards, four Canadian Screen Awards and a BAFTA Award.
