Omer Lavallée
(1925 – 1992)
Omer Lavallée was born in Quebec and had a lifelong interest in trains. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP Rail) and was its corporate archivist and historian. He was a member of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association and editor of its periodical, the CRHA News Report. He was also editor of Canadian Rail and wrote articles for the Manitoba Historical Society. He authored several books including Narrow Gauge Railways of Canada (1972) and Van Horne’s Road: An Illustrated Account of the Construction and First Years of the Canadian Pacific Transcontinental Railway (1974). He was a member of the Order of Canada.
