J. Nolan Reilly
John Nolan Reilly did his first oral history interviews in Nova Scotia in 1974. He joined the University of Winnipeg’s History Department in 1978, remaining there until his retirement in 2016. He was director of numerous oral and community history projects. He collaborated with university and secondary school instructors and community activists to develop teaching methods for engaging students and community members in the discovery of their heritage. Oral history was fundamental to his research. He was a co-founder of the University of Winnipeg’s Oral History Centre and co-editor of The Canadian Oral History Reader, and is now director emeritus.
