David Crane
David Crane was born in England in 1938 and came to Canada in 1949. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto (U of T) and has honorary doctorates from Victoria University (U of T) and Wilfrid Laurier University. Crane has written about Canadian innovation policy and the importance of Canadian sovereignty and identity. He has worked for the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, the Financial Post and the Hill Times. Among his numerous awards are the National Newspaper Award for Enterprise Reporting, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and one from the Canadian Advanced Technology Association. He is the author of The Next Canadian Century (1992).
