Arthur J. Ray
Arthur J. Ray was born in Vancouver and studied at the University of Wisconsin. He taught at the University of Wisconsin and York University, and is professor emeritus with the Department of History at the University of British Columbia. He is an internationally recognized historical geographer who has made significant contributions to understanding Canada’s ethno-history, economic history and Indigenous case law. He is known for his pioneering use of Hudson’s Bay Company archives in his research. He is the author of numerous books including An Illustrated History of Canada’s Native People: I have Lived Here Since the World Began (2016).
