William Lewis Wright

William Lewis Wright. Teacher, organist, administrator, b Nova Scotia 16 Apr 1878, d Robson, BC, 1970; BA (Acadia) 1903, honorary D MUS (Acadia) 1946, honorary D MUS (Brandon) 1969. He was the first music graduate of Acadia University, then studied for four years in Germany with Leopold Godowsky.

William Lewis Wright. Teacher, organist, administrator, b Nova Scotia 16 Apr 1878, d Robson, BC, 1970; BA (Acadia) 1903, honorary D MUS (Acadia) 1946, honorary D MUS (Brandon) 1969. He was the first music graduate of Acadia University, then studied for four years in Germany with Leopold Godowsky. Returning to Canada he became the first director (1907-47) of the Dept of Music of Brandon College (Brandon University). He was a founding member of the MRMTA and president 1936-8. After retirement from the college as a director emeritus he was organist at the Community Church in Robson, BC, until his death.
