Frank Albert Sherman, industrialist (b at Crown Point, NY 19 May 1887; d at Surfside, Fla 27 Jan 1967). Sherman worked in the steel industry at Pittsburgh, Pa, and in 1914 moved to Hamilton, Ont, to work in his brother Clifton's Dominion Steel Foundry Co (later DOFASCO), eventually becoming president and chairman. By matching salaries at the rival Stelco plant and by profit sharing, Sherman achieved labour peace and kept his plant free of unions. An active Liberal, Sherman helped raise election funds for C.D. HOWE; he was also a president of the HAMILTON TIGER-CATS.
