Jean-Pierre Vetter. Pianist, teacher, b Vevey, Switzerland, 18 Nov 1927, naturalized Canadian 1961, d Montreal 14 May 1987; diplôme de virtuosité (Lausanne Cons) 1948. After his studies at the Lausanne Cons he took further training 1949-50 in Florence with Rio Nardi and in Siena with Guido Agosti.

Jean-Pierre Vetter. Pianist, teacher, b Vevey, Switzerland, 18 Nov 1927, naturalized Canadian 1961, d Montreal 14 May 1987; diplôme de virtuosité (Lausanne Cons) 1948. After his studies at the Lausanne Cons he took further training 1949-50 in Florence with Rio Nardi and in Siena with Guido Agosti. A scholarship from the French government allowed him to study 1950-5 in Paris with Pierre Kostanoff, whose assistant he became. He gave recitals and played with orchestras in Brussels, Geneva, Lausanne, and Zurich.

Vetter emigrated to Canada in 1955 and subsequently performed with the Calgary and Edmonton SOs. In Edmonton he taught 1955-67 at Alberta College and played for various organizations, including the Edmonton Chamber Music Society, the Edmonton Musical Club, and the Northern Concert Society. He was in charge of the piano class 1967-76 at the École normale de musique in Montreal; he then had a similar appointment 1976-87 in the music module of UQAM.
