Gérard.Lamarche Administrator, producer, b Montreal 27 Sep 1918, d there 3 September 1999. He studied voice with Salvator Issaurel, winning a first prize in the baritone category at the 1938 Festival-concours de musique du Québec. After army service he joined the CBC, becoming, in turn, producer of French-language educational broadcasts, director of 'Radio-Collège,' director of French network radio programs, director of radio and TV programs, and director general of the Quebec division and of the French network. He was a member of the board of directors 1957-62 and artistic director 1964-5 of the Montreal Festivals, and director general 1964-85 of the PDA. Between 1971 and 1975 he was successively managing director, general director, then executive director of the Opéra du Québec. In 1982 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Opéra de Montréal. In 1977 he was made a Member and in 1982 an Officer of the Order of Canada.
