Daniel Caesar is one of Canada’s most internationally successful R&B artists. His music draws from gospel and neo soul and often reflects his religious upbringing and turbulent relationship with his parents. Caesar has had multiple songs top the Billboard Adult R&B chart and has won two Juno Awards, two Soul Train Music Awards and a Grammy Award. In 2026, he became only the eleventh artist ever to receive the Junos’ International Achievement Award.

    Daniel Christmas

    Daniel Christmas, community leader, businessman, activist, adviser, senator (born 10 September 1956 in Sydney, NS). Daniel Christmas helped to transform his home community of Membertou First Nation into one of the most prosperous First Nations in Canada (see also First Nations in Nova Scotia). In 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed him as the first Mi’kmaw senator. Christmas served until 2023, when he retired voluntarily.

    Daniel Grossman

    Daniel Williams Grossman, dancer, choreographer (born 13 September 1942 in San Francisco, California; died 29 July 2023 in Toronto, ON). Daniel Grossman was one of Canada’s greatest choreographers. He was known for weaving themes of social justice into his dance and for choreography that was equal parts athletic, humorous and satirical. He founded the Danny Grossman Dance Company (DGDC) in 1975 and taught for many years at York University. He received the Jean A. Chalmers Award for Choreography, the William Kilbourn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Toronto Arts Awards and the Dance Ontario Award. He was an inaugural inductee of Canada’s Dance Hall of Fame in 2018.

    Baraladei Daniel Igali, wrestler, politician, philanthropist (born 3 February 1974 in Eniwari, Bayelsa, Nigeria). Daniel Igali is Canada's first-ever gold medallist in Olympic wrestling since his victory at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. In 1999, he earned the title of world champion at the World Wrestling Championships in Manchester, England. Igali was inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, the Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame in 2002, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2007, and into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2012.

    Daniel J. Caron, Librarian and Archivist of Canada (b at Sainte-Foy, Qué, 1957). Daniel Caron was instrumental in the amalgamation of the National Archives and National Library in 2004 and succeeded Ian WILSON as Librarian and Archivist of Canada in 2009. Caron pursued post-secondary studies in Qubec, earning a bachelor's and a master's degree in economics from the Université Laval, and later, a doctorate in Applied Human Sciences from the Université de Montréal.
