 Burkett spent his formative years in Medicine Hat. At 7 years old, he first read about puppets in the World Book Encyclopedia. Early influences were Bil Baird (featured in the WBE), whose puppets in "The Lonely Goatherd" in The Sound of Music set Burkett's determination to become a puppeteer.

Yves Beauchemin, writer (b at Noranda, Québec; d 26 June 1941). Before becoming a Radio-Québec researcher, Beauchemin taught and worked in publishing.

Cory Allan Monteith, actor, musician (born at Calgary 11 May 1982, died, 13 July 2013 in Vancouver, BC). Cory Monteith is best known for his starring role in the TV series Glee. Monteith grew up on Vancouver Island and attended school in Victoria.

Ma Vie en cinemascope (2004) is a film about Alice Robitaille (known professionally as Alys ROBI), who was a radio and cabaret star from Québec during the 1930s and 1940s.

The Automatistes held a number of exhibitions, notably in New York in 1946 and in Paris in 1947. Their first Montréal exhibition was on Amherst St in April 1946, and they were designated as "Automatistes" at their second Montréal showing, on Sherbrooke St in February 1947.

Jean-Marie Beaudet, conductor, pianist, administrator, organist, teacher (b at Thetford Mines, Qué 20 Feb 1908; d at Ottawa 19 Mar 1971). As a conductor and administrator, he promoted Canadian music at home and abroad.

Ian Hugh Wallace, artist (born at Shoreham, England 25 Aug 1943). He moved to Canada in 1944 and is an influential Vancouver artist and teacher known for his conceptual art, painting, photographic murals and critical writings.

He was much admired in his day and, as drawing master at the Toronto Normal School for 26 years, had a lasting influence. He was associate member of the Royal Canadian Academy at its founding.

Ernest Howard Armstrong, journalist, lawyer, politician, premier of Nova Scotia (b at Kingston, NS 27 July 1864; d at Bridgewater, NS 15 Feb 1946).

Angèle Arsenault, OC, OPEI, singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, actor, broadcaster (born 1 October 1943 in Abrams Village, PEI; died 25 February 2014 in Saint-Sauveur, QC).

Napoléon Bourassa, sculptor, architect, author, painter (b at L'Acadie, LC 21 Oct 1827; d at Lachenaie, Qué 27 Aug 1916).

Max Braithwaite, novelist, story writer, juvenile writer, humorist (b at Nokomis, Sask 7 Dec 1911; d at Brighton, Ont 19 Mar 1995). One of 8 children, he was raised in Prince Albert and Saskatoon, and educated at U of Saskatchewan.

Fritz Brandtner, painter (b at Danzig [Gdansk, Poland], Germany 28 July 1896; d at Montréal 7 Nov 1969). Generally considered to have introduced German expressionism to Canada, Brandtner was trained in Berlin and came to Winnipeg in 1928. He worked as a house painter until L.L.

Carol Bolt, née Johnson, playwright (b at Winnipeg, Man 25 Aug 1941; d at Toronto, 28 Nov 2000). A successful and prolific playwright, Bolt grew up in mining towns across Canada and was educated at UBC (BA 1961).

Jordi Bonet, painter, muralist, sculptor (b at Barcelona, Spain 7 May 1932; d at Montréal 25 Dec 1979). Bonet met violence early in life as his native city suffered greatly during the Spanish Civil War.

Martin Hayter Short, CM, comedian, actor (born 26 March 1950 in Hamilton, ON). Martin Short is one of Canada’s most celebrated, versatile and prolific comedians. A prominent cast member of SCTV and Saturday Night Live, he is known for his work in television, film and theatre, and as a performer, author and host. He is the creator of numerous iconic sketch characters, particularly Ed Grimley and Jiminy Glick. He is a member of the Order of Canada and has a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. He has won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, and received the Earle Grey Award at the 1995 Gemini Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards.
