    Robert Davidson

    Robert Charles Davidson, CM (also called Guud San Glans, meaning “Eagle of the Dawn" in the Haida language), artist (born on 4 November 1946 in Hydaburg, Alaska). Of Haida and Tlingit descent, Robert Davidson is a highly respected painter, master carver and printmaker. In his long artistic career, he has expanded the boundaries of Northwest Coast image and design in increasingly complex and unconventional serigraphs, jewellery and sculpture. His work has been displayed across Canada, including at the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Canadian Museum of History, as well as internationally. Davidson was appointed an Officer to the Order of Canada in 1996 and was promoted to Member in 2022. (See also Northwest Coast Indigenous Art in Canada.)

    Robert Donald Hoskin Heard, chemist, biochemist (born 13 February 1908 in St. Thomas, ON; died 8 September 1957 in Montreal, QC). Well known for research on the biochemistry of steroid hormones, Heard was largely responsible for the 1944 choice of a Canadian site for the annual prestigious Laurentian Hormone Conference.

    Robert Farnon

    Robert Joseph Farnon, CM, composer, arranger, conductor, trumpeter (born 24 July 1917 in Toronto, ON; died 23 April 2005 in Guernsey, in the United Kingdom). He is considered one of the most influential film composers of his generation in Europe and North America. Farnon's compositions include the popular suite Canadian Impressions and Rhapsody for violin and orchestra (recorded by Steven Staryk) as well as more than 40 film scores. He won four British Novello awards (1956, 1960, 1972, 1991), a Grammy (1995) and was inducted into the Order of Canada in 1997.
