    Réginald Hamel

    Réginald Hamel, professor, writer, bibliographer, literary historian and essayist (born 14 February 1931 in Frampton, QC; died 30 October 2010 in Montreal, QC). One of the great literary minds of his time, Réginald Hamel specialized in the works of Charles Gill and Alexandre Dumas, and wrote his doctoral dissertation on Gaëtane de Montreuil, one of the first female journalists in Quebec. Hamel is now regarded as one of the pioneers of the Department of French Studies at the Université de Montréal, where he worked for over 30 years.
