    Jonathan Pedneault

    Jonathan Pedneault, co-leader of the Green Party of Canada (2025–present), human rights activist, reporter, filmmaker (born 19 April 1990 in Longueuil, QC). Politically active from a young age, Jonathan Pedneault has reported on some of the world’s most violent conflicts. A documentary filmmaker, he covered the Arab Spring uprisings in Egypt and Libya. He also worked with Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch before becoming deputy leader of the Green Party of Canada in 2022. He left politics for health reasons in 2024 but returned in 2025, when he and Elizabeth May were elected Green Party co-leaders. Pedneault was the first openly gay leader of a federal political party in Canada. He resigned as Green Party co-leader on 30 April 2025.

    Jonathan Snyder

    Jonathan Sutherland Snyder, SMV, soldier (born 20 December 1981 in Penticton, BC; died 7 June 2008 in Zhari District, Afghanistan). Jonathan Snyder was an officer of 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (1PPCLI) who served in Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates. He received the Star of Military Valour for his bravery during a firefight on 4 June 2008 but died tragically a few days later in an irrigation well in Kandahar Province.

    Jonathan Ormond Torrens, actor, writer, producer, television host, podcaster (born 2 October 1972 in Charlottetown, PEI). Jonathan Torrens’ career began in the 1980s when he was a teenager. He has appeared on several groundbreaking Canadian television programs, including Street Cents (a consumer affairs program aimed at kids), Jonovision (a talk show for teens that included sketch comedy) and Trailer Park Boys (one of the first mainstream mockumentary sitcoms). Torrens is known for his sunny disposition and self-deprecating sense of humour. He has won two Gemini Awards, an ACTRA Award and a Canadian Screen Award and has had memorable roles in such Canadian sitcoms as Mr. D., Letterkenny and Shoresy.

Jordan’s Principle is named for Jordan River Anderson, a young Cree boy who died at the age of five after waiting for home-based care that was approved when he was two but never arrived because of a financial dispute between the federal and provincial governments.     Jordin Tootoo

    Jordin John Kudluk (Thunder) Tootoo, hockey player (born 2 February, 1983 in Churchill, MB). Jordin Tootoo is the first Inuk hockey player to play in the National Hockey League (NHL). Jordin got the attention of the NHL as a tough, talented right-winger in his junior hockey days in Manitoba. In 2003, he received national attention when he played for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship. After playing 13 seasons in the NHL, he retired in 2018. He is known for speaking to youth and maintaining his Inuit culture.
