Lydia Dotto
(1949 – 2022)
Lydia Dotto was born in Cadomin, Alberta. She studied at Carlton University and was a wildlife photographer, science journalist and author, and an educator on science communication. Dotto wrote for numerous publications including the Edmonton Journal and the Toronto Star and was a staff writer for the Globe and Mail. She won awards from the Canadian Science Writers’ Association for her articles on such topics as nuclear terrorism, global warming and high-energy physics. She was associated with NASA and the Canadian Space Agency, and Canadian astronauts Marc Garneau and Chris Hadfiled. She wrote several books, including Canada in Space (1987).
