Donald A. Smith

Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Donald Alan Smith (1930–2020) was a Canadian mammologist. Smith worked with the Royal Ontario Museum, Carleton University, and others. He also advocated for the protection of the Mer Bleue Bog, which was at risk of becoming a garbage dump. Smith’s research into the bog’s biodiversity and ecological significance helped create Mer Bleue Conservation Area.
