Angus McLaren
(1942 – 2024)
Angus McLaren was born in Vancouver. He studied at the University of British Columbia and Harvard. He taught at the University of Calgary and Grinnell College before accepting a position as professor of history at the University of Victoria. He became a specialist on the history of sexuality. He was a visiting fellow at St. Anthony’s College, Oxford, and a life fellow at Clare Hall, Cambridge. His areas of research included the emergence of the serial killer, medical ethics, abortion and the history of contraception and eugenics. He wrote for numerous periodicals and authored several published books including Twentieth-Century Sexuality: A History (1999).
