Ilona Kombrink

Ilona Kombrink, soprano, teacher (born 9 November 1932 in St Louis, MO; died 9 August 2013 in Stoughton, WI). Ilona Kombrink studied at the Curtis Institute, and was also a pupil of Weldon Kilburn.

Ilona Kombrink, soprano, teacher (born 9 November 1932 in St Louis, Missouri; died 9 August 2013 in Stoughton, Wisconsin). Ilona Kombrink studied at the Curtis Institute, and was also a pupil of Weldon Kilburn. She sang leading roles in the late 1950s and early 1960s with the Canadian Opera Company and the Stratford Festival, and in CBC TV productions of Tosca (1958, title role); Elektra (1961, Chrysothemis); and Otello (1963, Desdemona). Kombrink was also seen on the CBC TV show Music in Miniature. She returned to the US in 1963 and taught at the University of Wisconsin until 2003.

Kombrink was married to the bassoonist Nicholas Kilburn.
