Henri Bohrer

Henri (b Heinrich) Bohrer. Pianist, teacher, b Paris 1829; d Victoria, BC, 1889. He was a pupil of Ignaz Moscheles and Peter Joseph von Lindpaintner and settled in Montreal in 1877 as a music teacher.

Henri (b Heinrich) Bohrer. Pianist, teacher, b Paris 1829; d Victoria, BC, 1889. He was a pupil of Ignaz Moscheles and Peter Joseph von Lindpaintner and settled in Montreal in 1877 as a music teacher. His performance that year of Bach's Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue possibly was the work's premiere in Montreal. Nine years later he moved to Victoria. His wife, Josephine (b Chatterton), was the daughter of a noted British harpist and a harpist herself. After Henri's death she established a music school in Chicago.
