Flora Carey (m Everett). Pianist, soprano, teacher, b Hamilton 1914, d there 28 Nov 1997; ATCM voice 1940, ATCM piano 1942. The daughter of Roy Carey and the organist Florence Green, she studied piano with Marion Begg Hope and Eileen McManamy at the Hamilton Conservatory and singing with Bertha Morrow and Ernesto Vinci. She taught piano and voice 1938-48 at the Hamilton Conservatory and was an accompanist for Bertha Morrow. She taught privately 1948-68 in Waterdown, Ont, and after 1968 in Hamilton. Her pupils included the tenor John Keane and her daughter Earlene (b 1938), whose diplomas and degrees include ARCT (piano 1959, voice 1961) and MA in musicology (McGill) 1982.
