Elizabeth Dolin

Elizabeth Dolin. Cellist, b Toronto 14 Jan 1959; B MUS (Toronto) 1981. She studied with Vladimir Orloff at the University of Toronto, with Janos Starker 1981-4 at the Indiana University School of Music, and at the Banff CA in 1985. Her New York debut was at Carnegie Recital Hall in April 1985. With pianist Bernadene Blaha she won first prize in the duo category in the 1986 International Chamber Music Competition in Florence. She was associate principal cello 1988-90 of the MSO and became a founding member in 1988 of the Alexandria Trio (with Andrée Azar and Andrew Tunis). She appeared as soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic, the NACO, and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. In 1991 she was active as a recitalist and chamber musician, often recorded by CBC radio.

Elizabeth Dolin has been an assistant professor at McGill's Schulich School of Music teaching cello and chamber music, and has taught the same disciplines at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal.

She has performed at the Orford Arts Centre, The Festival of the Sound, the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival and the Fredericton Chamber Music festival.

She has recorded for Naxos, Analekta and ATMA among others.
