Alexander Bannerman Warburton

Alexander Bannerman Warburton, historian, politician, premier of PEI 1897-98 (b at Charlottetown 5 Apr 1852; d there 14 Jan 1929). Warburton practised law in Charlottetown and won election as a Liberal to the provincial legislature in 1891.

Alexander Bannerman Warburton, historian, politician, premier of PEI 1897-98 (b at Charlottetown 5 Apr 1852; d there 14 Jan 1929). Warburton practised law in Charlottetown and won election as a Liberal to the provincial legislature in 1891. He was named premier on 27 Oct 1897 but resigned 1 Aug 1898 following his appointment as a judge in June 1898. He held that post until Oct 1904. An MP 1908-11, he returned to the bench as a judge of probate in 1920 and served until his death. Warburton is best remembered for his 2 landmark histories of PEI.
