High Level, Alta, incorporated as a town in 1983, population 3641 (2011c), 3887 (2006c). The Town of High Level is located 250 km north of the town of PEACE RIVER and was named for a high expanse of land separating the Hay and PEACE river systems.

The town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is located 47 km northeast of Toronto. The Jean-Baptiste Lainé Site, originally known as the Mantle Site, is located just south of Whitchurch-Stouffville. The site was the location of a large, 16th century Huron-Wendat village.

Settlement began in 1881 about 3 km south of the present town. This settlement was called Dogrump Creek but in 1892 was renamed Stony Plain.
