By the end of WWII the community had grown sufficiently to obtain town status, a fact emphasized by dropping "Junction" from its name (1947). Since then, while growth has continued, the economy has been modified.
Kamsack primarily serves as an agricultural service centre for the surrounding district, which contains both grain and mixed farms.

La Tuque, Quebec, incorporated 1911, population 11,001 (2016 census), 11,227 (2011 census). La Tuque is located on the Rivière Saint-Maurice, 165 km north of Trois-Rivières. The town was built at the start of the 20th century at the site of a former trading post. It owes its name to a mountain shaped like a triangular woolen hat, popularly known as a “tuque.” The town’s economy is driven in large part by the forestry industry.

St. Stephen, New Brunswick, incorporated as a town in 1973, population 4,415 (2016 census), 4,817 (2011 census). The town of St. Stephen is located on the St. Croix River in southwestern New Brunswick. First incorporated as a town in 1871, in 1973 St. Stephen was amalgamated with nearby Milltown (incorporated 1878) to form St. Stephen-Milltown. The incorporated name of St. Stephen has been used since 1975.

The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is the result of the amalgamation of two towns situated at the western end of Hamilton Inlet, Labrador. The community began with the construction of an air base during the Second World War. It remains home to a Canadian Forces Base and a small civilian population.

Grimshaw, Alta, incorporated as a town in 1953, population 2515 (2011c), 2537 (2006c). The Town of Grimshaw is located in the Peace River area 26 km west of the town of PEACE RIVER.
Hanna, Alta, incorporated as a town in 1914, population 2673 (2011c), 2847 (2006c). The Town of Hanna is situated 219 km northeast of Calgary and was named after David B. HANNA, 3rd vice-president of the Canadian Northern Railway, and was first settled in 1912.
