William Walker Hamilton Gunn, ornithologist, ecologist (b at Toronto 18 Mar 1913; d at Lindsay, Ont 15 Oct 1984). His research on bird migration and behaviour has been applied effectively to ecological management and public education.
Charles William Gordon, pen name Ralph Connor, clergyman, novelist (b in Glengarry Cy, Canada W 13 Sept 1860; d at Winnipeg 31 Oct 1937). The most successful Canadian novelist in the early 20th century, Gordon used literature as a pulpit to preach his energetic branch of "red-blooded Christianity.

Diana Jean Krall, jazz singer and pianist (b at Nanaimo, BC, 16 Nov 1964). She went from Nanaimo to the Berklee College of Music in Boston as a teenager, and later studied piano in Los Angeles with Alan Broadbent and Jimmy Rowles and in Toronto with Don Thompson.
Hank (b Clarence Eugene) Snow. Singer-songwriter, guitarist, b Brooklyn, Queens County, NS, 9 May 1914, naturalized US 1958, d Nashville, Tenn, 20 Dec 1999; honorary D LITT (St. Mary's) 1994. He began playing guitar as a child.

George B. (Buckley) Sippi. Organist, choirmaster, teacher, b Bombay 10 Mar 1847, d London, Ont, 18 Sep 1915. His family returned in 1854 to Ireland from India, where his Italian grandfather had settled. He attended Queen's College in Cork and studied piano and organ with his uncle, John A.
Philip (Gordon) Thomson. Pianist, b Saint John, NB, 11 Nov 1952; B MUS (Toronto) 1974. Thomson studied 1970-4 at the University of Toronto with Pierre Souvairan, 1974-5 in England, performed mainly in Toronto ca 1975-7, then did graduate work in piano 1977-9 with Abbey Simon at the Julliard School.
