Robert Gravel, actor, author and theatre director (born 14 September 1945 in Montréal; died 12 August 1996 in Montréal). A free and unusual spirit, and a debonair yet sardonic actor, Gravel was endowed with enormous physical and emotional scope.
Alexander Knox, actor, novelist, playwright (b at Strathroy, Ont 16 Jan 1907; d at Berwick-upon-Tweed, UK 25 Apr 1995). Alexander Knox was educated at the University of Western Ontario, and first appeared on the American stage with the Boston Repertory Theatre in 1929.
Yves Hébert, pen name Yves Sauvageau, actor, playwright (b at Waterloo, Qué 17 May 1946; d at Granby, Qué 12 Oct 1970). After studies in education at the École normale de Sherbrooke (1963-65), he enrolled in the National Theatre School (1965-68).
Denise Filiatrault, actress, producer (b at Montreal 16 May 1931). Primarily an accomplished cabaret artist, Denise Filiatrault attained star status on TV in the 1960s, by working as a duo with Dominique MICHEL in Moi et l'autre (1967-71) and in numerous "Bye Byes" (end-of-year performances).
Anne Legault, actress, playwright, novelist, short-story writer, teacher (b at Lachine, Qué 7 July 1958). Anne Legault began her career acting in children's theatre and television after completing her studies at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique in Montréal in 1981.
Other early works were Mutants (1980) for Walterdale Theatre in Edmonton and Wolf Boy (1981), which was produced a number of times across the country, culminating in the noted production at Toronto's Theatre Passe Muraille that introduced a young Keanu Reeves to the theatre.
Lorraine Pintal, actor, director, and producer (b at Plessisville, Qué 24 Sept 1951). Current artistic director of the THÉÂTRE DU NOUVEAU MONDE, she made her stage debut with the company in 1973 in Mistero Buffo, directed by André BRASSARD.
Monique Miller was born into a working class family in Rosemont, and when very young she enrolled in the class of Mme Jean-Louis Audet, who helped her get her first radio engagements at the age of 11. The child learned much by observing her fellow artists.
Alexander Pantages, né Pericles, entrepreneur, vaudeville and motion picture theatre owner and manager (b at Andros, Greece 17 Feb 1867; d at Los Angeles 17 Feb 1936). Pericles Pantages was reputed to have changed his name to Alexander after hearing the story of Alexander the Great.

Yvan Bienvenue, poet, playwright, producer, translator, publisher (b at Saint-Hyacinthe, Qué 14 August 1962). Yvan Bienvenue studied playwriting at the École nationale de théâtre du Canada in the late 1980s and co-founded the Théâtre Urbi et Orbi with Stéphane Jacques in 1992.
