Michel (Mischa) Hirvy (b Hirschowitz). Pianist, teacher, b Warsaw, October 1900?, d Montreal 31 Dec 1966. He studied piano with Paul Lutzenko and graduated from the Stern Cons in Berlin. After further studies in Austria he lived 1928-39 in Paris, then in Portugal, and settled in Montreal in 1941.

Michel (Mischa) Hirvy (b Hirschowitz). Pianist, teacher, b Warsaw, October 1900?, d Montreal 31 Dec 1966. He studied piano with Paul Lutzenko and graduated from the Stern Cons in Berlin. After further studies in Austria he lived 1928-39 in Paris, then in Portugal, and settled in Montreal in 1941. He produced a series of silent films 1928-34 in Paris with Louta Nouneberg and 1951-7 in Montreal, showing in slow motion keyboard performances by Backhaus, Cortot, Gould, Horowitz, Rubinstein, Serkin, Tureck, and others. These films are deposited in the National Film Archives in Ottawa. Hirvy's Canadian pupils included Edmund Assaly, Albertine Caron-Legris, Neil Chotem, Kenneth Peacock, Nina Townsend, Vic Vogel, and Irene Woodburn-Wright.
