Jacques Bougie, administrator (b at Montréal, 1947). Jacques Bougie graduated from the Université de Montréal in law, and from l'École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in business administration. He began working for Alcan in 1979 as manager for the company's Beauharnois smelter.

Jacques Bougie, administrator (b at Montréal, 1947). Jacques Bougie graduated from the Université de Montréal in law, and from l'École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in business administration. He began working for Alcan in 1979 as manager for the company's Beauharnois smelter. From 1981 to 1989, he held various positions in Winnipeg, Toronto and Montréal in the fields of large-scale project development, planning, and general management, including responsibility for all North American post-production processing operations (except for lamination). In July 1989, he was appointed president and CEO of ALCAN ALUMINIUM INC. Bougie, a manager of international class, was the architect of the merger between Alcan Pechiney and Algroup, implemented on August 1st, 1999. This new company, (APA), headquartered in Montréal, numbers 91 000 employees spread over 59 countries and generates annual sales of over 22 billion dollars (US). With other Canadian businessman driven by a spirit of globalization, he took part in the "Trilateral" Commission, that united a select group of North American, European, and Asian leaders to intervene with governments to encourage the acceptance of policies favourable to its members' interests. In 2001, the Université de Montréal awarded him an honorary doctorate. Since 2002, he has been an associate professor in the department of business management at HEC. Jacques Bougie is an Officer of the Order of Canada (2000).
